SPECIAL VIDEO REPORT - The Economic Alternative

In January this year, The Fabian Society thinktank held its annual conference. The thinktank is essentially a progressive-oriented institution which adopts a gradualist approach to reforming society in the path of improved social democracy. Over 1,000 people attended the conference and speakers included some prominent politicians such as Ed Balls of New Labour and former London Mayor Ken Livingstone.

Journalists from the mainstream media also attended – including Polly Toynbee of The Guardian, Mary Ridell of the Telegraph, and Jason Cowley of The New Statesman. The agenda of the conference was encapsulated in a pamphlet titled “The Economic Alternative” which is a collection of essays emerging from the conference participants.
